Since 1974, Top of Florida Soccer Club has provided quality, affordable soccer to the children and families of our communities and surrounding communities. This would not have been possible without the support of parents like you, our many coaches (past and present) and the tremendous volunteer staff that puts all the pieces together, often times behind the scenes. For this, I am eternally grateful!
The success of our programs has always relied on the very person that knows best what is good for their children, YOU. In 2004, I asked you what you wanted to see in our program to enhance the development of each and every player in our club - you responded. Since that time, we have totally revamped our Player Development Program. We brought in more licensed coaches, and re-introduced an enhanced training curriculum that follows each player over the long term and not just season to season.
Today, Top of Florida Soccer Club enjoys an awesome trend in growth percentage from season to season; our Instructional Academy is much healthier in numbers and the quality of training a notch above. The teams in our Competitive Travel Component are enjoying a better level of success, development and growth than most clubs have seen in years – yes, including ours. You spoke, we listened.
Based on this growth trend, the excellence in our training program and the tremendous response and feedback to our individual and collective programs, you are speaking again and thankfully so. It sounds like the best is yet to come! In anticipation of that, it is incumbent upon us to put things in place now to not only meet, but to exceed your expectations in the coming years. This is a challenge that we must, and are quite capable of achieving. Therefore, I have proposed a restructuring program to our Board of Directors so that in the coming months and seasons, you can expect to see changes that will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Unify and further enhance our Player Development Programs by having a Director of Coaches to oversee, develop and launch training modules for both players and Coaches.
- Have a summer and winter Camp Director to further develop this critical aspect of our sport.
- Tournament Director. TOF is committed to having 3 yearly quality tournaments in Tallahassee.
- Expand our affiliations in other youth soccer associations, in addition to FYSA Florida Youth Soccer Association)
- Begin the planning and development of our very own training and playing facilities.
While some of these strategic goals such as item 5 will take some time from start to fruition, you will however, begin seeing most of these items in place effective immediately. To further enhance and transition this process into a more user and family friendly structure, we have developed a link on our website called “CONTACTS AT-YOUR-SERVICE”. Whatever your soccer needs or soccer questions, the answer may be available by simply contacting any one of these folks. Of course, if you’d like to be a part of this process and can bring your expertise in any of these areas, please let me know. If there is an area of need that we have omitted, please let me know . . . we are listening!
How can we be so confident of the success of such an undertaking? For more than two years, we have worked to lay the foundation and put in place the basic structure. During that time, we have also expanded and opened up ties and a spirit of cooperation with many institutions around us - elementary schools, middle and high schools, and universities in and around our area. In addition, we have developed favorable relationships with other soccer clubs and coaches, locally and around Florida.
From just wanting to learn to play the game of soccer, to playing at the college level, if any child wants to play soccer, regardless of the level of play, we now have a quality structure in place to help them succeed.
We believe this new structure will further enhance and make your soccer experience at TOF a pleasant and rewarding one for you and your soccer player. I am especially proud that as this process develops and takes hold, you will come to feel very confident in the involvement and contributions of the licensed experts in the game of soccer that we have invited in our program.
You can also be assured that the very people in our communities whom you have come to trust and rely on daily to guide your children from elementary, middle and high schools will now be taking direct ownership of the structure and development of the sport we have all come to love. Each player in our program will enjoy a tremendous level of support, training and continuity from the elementary level to the college level.
